The MSVA has announced a venue change for the tournament, shifting it from its original location at Gwanda State University to Singwango. Increased interest from numerous clubs prompted executives to seek a venue with more than three volleyball courts. The annual opening tournament, known as “Yasuka Yahlala,” marks the beginning of the year’s volleyball events. It consistently draws a large number of teams eager to gauge their skills against others. Additionally, it serves as an opportunity for teams to assess newly acquired players for the season.

This relocation to Singwango is expected to enhance the sport’s promotion in rural communities, extending its influence across the remote province. Anticipating participation from at least four teams in each gender category, confirmed clubs include Beitbridge Eagles, Jessie Mine, Lycans, GSU Cavaliers, and ZRP Gwanda. Singwango High School staff members, serving as hosts, expressed optimism regarding the tournament’s impact. They believe that hosting the event and allowing their school team to compete against clubs from across the province will provide a morale boost for their players.
