New entrants Godlwayo Omnyama have experienced mixed fortunes in their first three games of the 2024 MSVA League, while seasoned team Colleen Bawn faced early struggles. In their debut match, Godlwayo Omnyama fell to GSU Cavaliers with a 0-3 defeat at the Gwanda State University courts in Filabusi. However, they bounced back during Match Week 2 at Gwanda’s Old Zintec campus, securing a 3-0 victory against Colleen Bawn before losing 1-3 to defending champions Beitbridge Eagles later that day.
Elsewhere, GHS Spartans had a strong start in Match Week 1 in Gwanda, defeating both Colleen Bawn and Mtshabezi Titans with scores of 3-2 and 3-0, respectively. However, they were later beaten by Beitbridge Eagles, 1-3. As a result, Beitbridge Eagles currently lead the standings with 6 points, followed by GHS Spartans with 5 points. Mtshabezi Titans are at the bottom of the table with just 1 point.
The competitive nature of this season’s matches has sparked considerable interest from the general public. Defending champions Beitbridge Eagles will need to maintain their high level of play to fend off challenges from determined rivals aiming to dethrone them.
