The Matabeleland South Volleyball Association (MSVA) is the governing body responsible for overseeing volleyball, beach volleyball, and other volleyball-related activities in the Matabeleland South province of Zimbabwe. In addition to managing the sport at the provincial level, the MSVA represents the interests of local volleyball clubs within the region.
Established in 2009, the MSVA formalized its affiliation with the Zimbabwe Volleyball Association (ZVA) in the same year. This affiliation transpired following the division of the former Matabeleland Volleyball Association into three distinct provincial associations: the Bulawayo Volleyball Association, the Matabeleland North Volleyball Association, and the Matabeleland South Volleyball Association.
“The association’s main motto, “ke motshameko wa rona,” is in the SeTswana/SeBirwa language, translating to “it’s our game.” There are variations of the motto in different languages spoken in the province, including Ndebele, Sotho/Pedi, Venda, Tsonga/Shangani, and Khalanga.”
The administration of volleyball in our province is decentralised into district associations, namely (i) Bulilima-Mangwe District Volleyball Association, (ii) Insiza District Volleyball Association, (iii) Gwanda District Volleyball Association, (iv) Matobo District Volleyball Association, and (v) Vhembe District Volleyball Association.
