After five engaging days of fostering a co-learning environment for Coach Developers, the former MSVA President and current ZVA 2nd Vice President, Morelet Mathema, who was part of the latest cohort of the Coach Developers Training Program has successfully concluded Phase 1. The workshop took place from the 7th to 11th of October in Lusaka, Zambia.

This Coach Developers Training Programme is made possible through the collaboration between the National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ), the Zimbabwe Olympic Committee (ZOC), the Norwegian Olympic and Paralympic Committee and Confederation of Sport (NIF), and the International Council of Coaching Excellence (ICCE), with support from the International Olympic Committee through Olympic Solidarity.

On the fifth and final day of the training, the participants led an open session that culminated in discussions on reflection, action planning, and the growth challenge. The day concluded with a session led by Dr. Katongo Bwalya, Chairperson of the National Organization for Women in Sport, Physical Activity, and Recreation (NOWSPAR) and a lecturer at the University of Zambia, who shared insights from research on the impact of the Coach Developers Training Programme. As Phase 1 concludes, the Coach Developers will look forward to applying what they have learned within their respective federations before reconvening for Phase 2, which will be hosted in Zimbabwe in March 2025.
