Gwanda: In a highly contested election, the Matabeleland South Volleyball Association (MSVA) has ushered in a new executive committee, marking a significant shift in the region’s volleyball leadership. M Gumbo who has been acting President since 2022, emerged victorious as the new President, securing a majority vote from the delegates. Gumbo’s vision for the growth and development of volleyball in the region resonated with the members.
T Mathe who acted as the Association’s Treasurer was elected as the 1st Vice President, bringing a wealth of experience and expertise to the position. L Peula, who was the acting 2nd Vice President took the reins as 2nd Vice President, completing the presidential triumvirate.
I Masimba was voted in as the new Treasurer General, tasked with managing the association’s finances and resources. B Nyoni maintained his role of Secretary General, responsible for the administrative duties and correspondence. The committee members elected include BF Nyathi, F Tshuma, and M Ndlovu, who will work together to drive the association’s objectives and initiatives.
The MSVA has pledged to work tirelessly to promote and develop volleyball in Matabeleland South, fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork.
As the new executive committee takes office, volleyball enthusiasts in the region eagerly await the implementation of their campaign promises and the growth of the sport. Meanwhile, all efforts are now focussed on the forthcoming league games that will be held in Beitbridge on the 7th of September.
